Sutyata al-Mahmali was a mathematician and scholar based in Baghdad during the 10th century, Sutayta was part of the intellectually vibrant Abbasid era, the third islamic caliphate, also known as the Golden Age of Islam (750-1258 CE).

Suyata al-Mahmali was known for her expertise in algebra and her significant ability to solve complex mathematical equations, a rare specialization at the time.

Moreover, she came  from a learned family where  she was educated in religious studies as well as mathematics, blending logical reasoning with philosophical thought.
