Making an Egg Float Using Salt Water!
Project Overview:
Is it possible to make an egg float in water without touching it? In this project, you'll attempt to use ordinary table salt to change plain water so that a sinking egg can suddenly float! The main aspect of this project is density, which is what you will be exploring in this project! It demonstrates how density affects whether things sink or float!
Materials:
1 Tall Clear Glass
Water
About 6 Tablespoons of Table Salt
1 Spoon
1 Raw Egg (not cracked)
Instructions:
Fill a clear glass about 3/4 of the way with water
Gently place the egg into the glass and observe what happens
Take the egg back out and set it aside
Add 6 tablespoons of salt to the glass of water
Stir the water well until the salt is fully dissolved
Gently and delicately place the same egg into the glass of salt water
Observe what happens to the egg
Compare what you saw in the plain water versus the salt water
